Tepary Bean Hummus

Tepary Bean Hummus

We planted tepary beans in our yard this year and they grew like weeds. They’re super hard when they dry so I soaked them in water overnight and then boiled them for about an hour before using. They taste similar to lima beans (which I love).

Ingredients

1 cup or so of dried tepary beans

1/4 cup tahini (sesame paste)

Juice of half a lemon

2 cloves garlic

Spices to add - smoked paprika, cumin, cayenne, onion powder

Kosher salt

Your favorite hot sauce

Olive Oil

Cilantro

Optional: jalapenos

What To Do

Combine tahini and lemon juice in a food processor and blend until smooth. Add everything else except beans and process again, wiping down in between mixing. Add half tepary beans and blend then add other half. Add olive oil and some water until desired consistency.
